Partnering with PLEET

PLEET is a free public directory with no fee for restaurants and no advertising on the website. What that means for a chapter, a city, a reuse operator or a supplier that wants to work with it, and how to get in touch.

PLEET is a public directory of restaurants that cut single-use plastic, with a website and the Ocean Conscious Restaurants app. Listing is free, the website carries no advertising, and every listing rests on a published method: fourteen practices, declared by the restaurant and confirmed by diners. Certified listings come from the Surfrider Foundation's Ocean Friendly Restaurants program. That is the whole model, and it is deliberately simple so that other organisations can build on it.

A coastal town along a narrow beach, from the air.

Who we would like to hear from

  • Local chapters and volunteer groups who already visit restaurants. You know which places have changed; adding them, or confirming the practices of ones already listed, is the fastest way to make the directory accurate in your town.
  • Cities and counties running foodware ordinances or reusable-foodware grants. A listing is a free way to show residents which businesses have complied, and this Learn section can carry a page about your programme.
  • Reuse operators and commercial dishwashing services. Restaurants that want to switch to reusables ask where the washing happens. If you serve a region, we would like to say so.
  • Suppliers of certified compostable and reusable foodware. PLEET lists suppliers that meet neutral criteria, meaning B Corp certification, or BPI, CMA or TÜV certification for compostables, and says plainly that it takes no payment and has no commercial relationship with any of them.
  • Researchers and journalists who want to use the directory's data. Ask. The scoring method is public and we would rather you had the real numbers.

What we do not do

PLEET does not sell listings, placement or scores, and does not accept payment to appear in this section. It does not claim affiliation with any organisation it describes: every page here attributes, and none endorses. The Surfrider Foundation's Ocean Friendly Restaurants program is the source of certified listings, and PLEET describes it as exactly that.

How to get in touch

Write to support@pleet.org, or use the options on the support page. Tell us who you are, what you run, and what you would like a listing or a page here to say.
