Ocean Conscious Restaurants
Ocean Conscious Restaurants helps you find places that cut single-use plastic, serve sustainably, and keep our coastlines clean.
655 certified restaurants in the directory.
Certification comes from the Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants program. A restaurant has to meet a set of concrete operational criteria — not a pledge, and not a self-assessment nobody checks.
Foam takeout containers are the hardest single-use item to deal with once they leave the restaurant. Certification rules them out entirely.
Straws, cutlery and lids are handed over when someone asks for them, not by default. It is a small operational change with a large cumulative effect.
Working recycling, reusable foodware for dine-in, and no plastic bags. These are the practices that separate real change from a sticker in the window.
